EASY NO SEW PINCUSHION! :D

I've been needing a pincushion forever now, but I've been too lazy to actually sew one. So this is a NO SEW pincushion! :)

Supplies:
Fabric (of your choice)
Mini Pail (OR anything you want to use that is sturdy.. i.e. mug, cardboard box, dish.. anything REALLY!!)

Scissors (or pinking shears)
Hot Glue Gun (cold might work too, mine does both!)
Rubber band (any size is fine, mine are tiny and plastic)
Large Fistful of Stuffing (I used Poly-fil from Hobby Lobby b/c it's cheap! Only $2.99 for a good size bag)

(Gather your supplies!)

(Cut your fabric about 3 to 4 times the size of your pail or whatever you chose to use)

(Ball up your stuffing really tight)

(Stuff your stuffing into the middle of the fabric you cut. Gather the sides of the fabric and pull it together tightly to form a ball)

(Make sure your stuffing is not poking out, shove it down in there with your finger or pen/pencil/marker)

(Wrap your rubber band around the excess fabric until you can not wrap it anymore and you have a firm stuffed ball)

(Take your hot or cold glue and coat the bottom half of the walls of your container with it and quickly stuff your fabric ball into it, the excess going in first of course)

(Push it down in there and make sure none of the excess fabric is poking out. If there is any of the excess sticking out.. push it down into the sides before the glue cools off)

(Now push apart the ball and the container and start gluing between them, not too close to the top though AND be careful NOT to burn your fingers!! Do this all the way around. Check for any excess glue on the sides and rub or peel it off)

(Now poke your sewing pins into the top and use!)

(Cute owl! :D)

I want to decorate the outside of mine, but I'm not sure if I want to use ribbon or stickers or what yet. The blue one is for Crystal! :) (Sorry I didn't take pictures while making hers!)

Mod Podge: My Newest Obsession! :D

I just purchased my very FIRST bottle of Mod Podge! I can not wait to get to crafting. There are so many things I have been wanting and needing to do, but I did not have any Mod Podge. It's taken me quite some time to actually buy it, with it's $6.99 price tag at Hobby Lobby, I was skeptical at first. I also didn't know if I wanted glossy or matte, I'm personally a matte lover, all my photos are printed matte because they don't leave yucky fingerprints all over your photos, but for this.. I bought glossy. I guess in this case shiny is good right?? And on all the blogs I read all I ever see is glossy, so it MUST be the way.. right?? :) The first thing I want to use it for is to recover the ceiling fan in my office. Like this one at Bobbypins Boardwalk.

Here is a picture of what she did to hers. :)

I also want to make some of these
adorable clothes pins from Blue Cricket Design.

So cute!! Aren't they?? You could make them ANY way you want!!! :)

I have tons of things I want to make and recover with my new found love. What are some things you have done with your Mod Podge?

So I bought this chair that was flat out hideous for only $5..
and TRIED to give it some pizazz for another $10!!

Chair: $5
3 Cans of Spray Paint: $8.31
Fabric: $2 something :P

Total
: $16 or so :)

Here are the pictures...

(Here is the whole chair)

(The previous fabric)

(Tried to sand it down and my husband said "If you're going to spray paint it.. why are you sanding??" Luckily I only sanded part of it!! :P )

(Painted silver.. It's pretty bright!!)

(Covered and ready for the next color)

(Ran out of paint before the first coat was done!!)

(Showing Crystal the new fabric)

(Maybe I should stick with the old fabric! J/K!! :P )

(SO COLORFUL!!!)

(Stapling the new fabric to the seat)

(Nice and fitted!)

(Look how cute my owls are!! :D )

(All Done!)

I think it came out okay. I'm still not convinced it looks right.. mainly because of that bright silver..

Ciao!

So today there was a shooting at Fort Hood, TX.. where we are stationed.. luckily we do not live on post.. or I would've had a meltdown.. and LUCKILY my husband was in the field.. so he was not involved in any of it.. in any way. 13 people have died so far.. and 30 others were injured. Hopefully nothing happens to them either. I feel bad for the families who lost anyone.. and the ones that have to deal with the injuries of the others. To think that someone, a psychiatrist, who helped those who were going to lose their own minds.. lost his.. to hurt those that he had helped before.. makes me want to cry.. but it shows..that ANYONE can lose it.. at anytime.. not just those that have mental problems, but also those that serve to protect us and our country and the stress that wars and conflicts put on them is major.. I know.. I have to deal with it everyday. Having my husband come home and be mad, sad, or flat out hostile sometimes.. because of what the military does to him.. and what he had to do overseas. It puts a strain on things, because I don't know what he's going through.. or how he feels. I just have to deal with it.. and try to help in my own way. Try to comfort him when I know it won't do any good because the next day will be the same. I get to deal with him kneeing me in his sleep.. and yelling at me in his sleep.. and stealing the covers (that part not from war.. he just does that!!) and him waking up with nightmares about shooting and killing people.

I think this is making me more sad.. I'm done.. Goodnight. Sorry for rambling.

Sooo.. I'm way behind for an update... but that's nothing compared to Crystal!!! HAHAHAHA!!!

Okay.. so in the past month I have gotten married, and purchased a house! My hubby is in the Army, and will be getting out in 2 months! So we can not live in our house until then which really blows!

Us!

Our house needs some work, but nothing too major.. Really it's just cosmetic.. paint, landscaping.. etc.. OH.. and a porch SWING! My only real demand.. lol

We were married at the Justice of the Peace on October 10th, 2009.. in Killeen, TX because my husband is stationed at Fort Hood, TX. We are going to have an actual wedding next year on October 10th, 2010! 10-10-10!! :) So that way all of our friends and family will be able to attend and so I can wear a dress! :D

So far for the wedding I have not planned anything.. other than the date of course! I need to find a ceremony and reception place that we will both love before I can plan anything else.. because if I don't.. then I will spend hours and days looking at other things instead.. like dresses, favors, and cakes.. OH MY! I think this wedding is going to be really DIY! Because we are on a budget.. of which I don't know the amount... lol That will come later I guess.. after we move and start our jobs.

Our house!

Well I think that's it for now. I think I'll start posting regularly now, since I've got a life now! lol

Ciao!
