Lock 'N Lock

Two weeks ago we went to Texas, to my best friend Crystal's house warming party. While we wer there we went by my Great Aunt Donna's house. We talked for a bit while she showed us all of the new stuff she's gotten since I was last at her house (almost 10 years ago!!). One of the things she showed us was her
ORANGE Lock 'N Locks! They are super cute and she told me how amazing they were. When we were on our way back to Oklahoma, she texted me and asked what color I wanted! :D So my choices were clear, pink, light blue, purple and some other color I don't remember. So I asked Daniel blue or purple (just like I asked Crystal blue or purple on the pin cushion thing lol)!! A few days ago.. my (I mean our...) PURPLE Lock 'N Locks showed up at the door!! :D What a great surprise to get after a long drooling day at school.. lol..

Well here they are!! :)

(All of them out!)

(All of them tucked away!)

:) I think they are awesome! Hence the post lol!! :)

EASY NO SEW PINCUSHION! :D

I've been needing a pincushion forever now, but I've been too lazy to actually sew one. So this is a NO SEW pincushion! :)

Supplies:
Fabric (of your choice)
Mini Pail (OR anything you want to use that is sturdy.. i.e. mug, cardboard box, dish.. anything REALLY!!)

Scissors (or pinking shears)
Hot Glue Gun (cold might work too, mine does both!)
Rubber band (any size is fine, mine are tiny and plastic)
Large Fistful of Stuffing (I used Poly-fil from Hobby Lobby b/c it's cheap! Only $2.99 for a good size bag)

(Gather your supplies!)

(Cut your fabric about 3 to 4 times the size of your pail or whatever you chose to use)

(Ball up your stuffing really tight)

(Stuff your stuffing into the middle of the fabric you cut. Gather the sides of the fabric and pull it together tightly to form a ball)

(Make sure your stuffing is not poking out, shove it down in there with your finger or pen/pencil/marker)

(Wrap your rubber band around the excess fabric until you can not wrap it anymore and you have a firm stuffed ball)

(Take your hot or cold glue and coat the bottom half of the walls of your container with it and quickly stuff your fabric ball into it, the excess going in first of course)

(Push it down in there and make sure none of the excess fabric is poking out. If there is any of the excess sticking out.. push it down into the sides before the glue cools off)

(Now push apart the ball and the container and start gluing between them, not too close to the top though AND be careful NOT to burn your fingers!! Do this all the way around. Check for any excess glue on the sides and rub or peel it off)

(Now poke your sewing pins into the top and use!)

(Cute owl! :D)

I want to decorate the outside of mine, but I'm not sure if I want to use ribbon or stickers or what yet. The blue one is for Crystal! :) (Sorry I didn't take pictures while making hers!)

Mod Podge: My Newest Obsession! :D

I just purchased my very FIRST bottle of Mod Podge! I can not wait to get to crafting. There are so many things I have been wanting and needing to do, but I did not have any Mod Podge. It's taken me quite some time to actually buy it, with it's $6.99 price tag at Hobby Lobby, I was skeptical at first. I also didn't know if I wanted glossy or matte, I'm personally a matte lover, all my photos are printed matte because they don't leave yucky fingerprints all over your photos, but for this.. I bought glossy. I guess in this case shiny is good right?? And on all the blogs I read all I ever see is glossy, so it MUST be the way.. right?? :) The first thing I want to use it for is to recover the ceiling fan in my office. Like this one at Bobbypins Boardwalk.

Here is a picture of what she did to hers. :)

I also want to make some of these
adorable clothes pins from Blue Cricket Design.

So cute!! Aren't they?? You could make them ANY way you want!!! :)

I have tons of things I want to make and recover with my new found love. What are some things you have done with your Mod Podge?

Umm.. this is my small stash of fabric. I actually can't find some of it.. which more than likely it's in a box somewhere!! But I'm not hunting through boxes right now looking for ANYTHING!
Sorry Crystal! :P
